Before I start this blog, I just wanna say, get on over to the bookstore today! Dakota Cassidy’s ACCIDENTALLY DEMONIC, Book 4 in the Accidentals series, is now available. Woot! Don’t forget to buy your awesome mass market copy of HAPPY HOUR OF THE DAMNED by Mark Henry. I love, love, LOVE Amanda Feral, and so should you.
You’ll notice the links go to Barnes & Noble. And here’s why. (Dear Amazon: No. Bad, Amazon. BAD. We don’t bite the hand that feeds us. Shame on you.) I have an associates account with Amazon and it brings in a few bucks every month, but I’ve removed the links. Except, you know, I’m TELLING you I’ve removed the links. I’m also thrilled I own a Sony E-book Reader, and not a Kindle, because now I don’t have to sell my Kindle in a fit of WTF rage. No, I’m not a Macmillan author, but I’m an author, and I don’t appreciate Amazon wiping a sixth of its inventory because a major publisher wants fair compensation for electronic books. Do you think authors are the only one who make a living from books? How about editors, production staff, marketing, copy editors, the dude that gets the coffee, and scads of others? Do you know how much money I’ve spent at Amazon.com? Not just on books, but loads of other products. Guess how much I plan on spending there now?
*Taking a DEEP BREATH.*
Okay. Moving on.
You remember when I blogged about the cold and flu season? And I was all, “Yeah, I totally rely on Nyquil and alternative remedies ’cause I don’t have health insurance and hot toddies are cool!”
The flu took that as a challenge. It crept into my house on the first day of my son’s winter vacation. He spent the first part of his break battling the symptoms, and I spent the last part of his break wishing for death. And chocolate. Then the flu left me acute bronchitis as a little present. A sorta “take THAT, bitch, and your remedies!”
Flu: 2. Michele and son: O.
I was still hacking and wheezing my way through the release of COME HELL OR HIGH WATER. So much so, I had to reschedule my launch party at Katy Budget Books for the week after, but let me tell you something about Katy Budget Books, people: Karla, Stacy and the staff ROCK! I lurve them. In fact, if you want an autographed copy of any of my Broken Heart titles, you can buy them HERE. I also did an event at Legacy Books in Plano. Kathy, Kyle, and the staff also rock! It’s always such a pleasure to hang out with them at their fantastic store. They also have copies of autographed books, so if you’re local, drop on by and get one with my signature. It’s magic, I tell you.
In other news, I just finished Gena Showalter’s THE DARKEST WHISPER, and I loved it. The Lords of the Underworld series freaking rules. Movie-wise, I went to see THE TOOTH FAIRY with my son, and thought it very cute. Mostly, I like staring at The Rock. My new favorite songs on Rock Band are “Crocodile Rock” and “Accidentally in Love.” You know, I love Blink 182, but their songs KILL me on the drums.
If you leave a comment, you’ll be entered to win a $10 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble. Mention how much you love Mark and/or Dakota, and you’ll get an extra entry to win.
